LAHORE: The Sikh yatrees (pilgrims), who were in Pakistan in connection with the 177th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, returned to their homeland in India through a special train on Thursday.
Evacuee Trust Property Board (BTPB) Chairman Muhammad Siddiqul Farooq and other board officials saw them off warmly at Lahore Railway Station. Talking to the media, Sikh Yatrees group leader Gurmeet Singh thanked the Pakistani government and ETPB chairman for making the best security arrangements for the gurdwaras in Pakistan.
He said that Pakistani people were very loving and they were eager to come to Pakistan again and again. Speaking on the occasion, Siddiq said that prosperity and peace would prevail in entire region due to friendly relations between the Sikh and the Muslims.
He added that Islam gives the message of love and respect to people of other religions. The yatrees also chanted slogans of Sikh-Muslim friendship ‘zindabad’.
