GHALLANAI: Two soldiers lost their lives in a roadside bomb explosion in Mohmand Agency, official sources said on Tuesday. The sources said an improvised explosive device planted by suspected militants at Atmarkhel area in Baizai tehsil went off just in time when the soldiers were returning to their camp after performing duty at a border post.
In another incident, a driver of a construction company sustained injuries when an explosive device planted by miscreants near the Lottery Post in Karappa area in Pandyalai tehsil went off. They said the vehicle was partially damaged in the blast. The security forces started a search operation soon after the blasts in a bid to apprehend the attackers. However, there were no reports of any arrest by the security forces till the filing of this report. Jamaatul Ahrar, the splinter group of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attacks. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has condemned the blasts in Mohmand Agency and expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the loss of precious lives.
