Pakistan and China have agreed to deepen their all-weather strategic partnership and increase cooperation on global and regional issues. The agreement came during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The meeting took place in Islamabad and was confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Officials said both sides focused on strengthening ties and advancing shared goals. They also discussed the importance of supporting each other in the face of emerging challenges.
During the meeting, regional security and counter-terrorism were key points of discussion. The two leaders shared concerns about hybrid and transnational threats. They also emphasized the need for greater collaboration on countering terrorism. Wang Yi assured Pakistan of China’s continued support for its sovereignty and development. In return, Field Marshal Munir thanked China for standing by Pakistan in difficult times.
This high-level visit marks Yi’s first trip to Pakistan since a major cross-border incident with India in May. A few weeks earlier, Munir had met Yi in Beijing, which helped reinforce the close military ties between the two countries. Their back-to-back meetings show growing trust and urgency in their partnership. Analysts see this as a sign of deeper alignment on strategic and defense matters.
Just days before this visit, Pakistan and China held the 10th round of bilateral talks on arms control and disarmament in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on peace, non-proliferation, and regional stability. The discussions showed a united front on controlling weapons and reducing global tensions. This round of talks highlighted a shared interest in long-term security cooperation.
Both countries committed to promoting peace and prosperity in the region. They also pledged to coordinate closely in international forums. Their growing partnership now extends beyond diplomacy and into military and strategic areas. With rising regional tensions, this renewed cooperation signals stronger unity. Pakistan and China appear more determined than ever to protect shared interests and shape regional security together.
