LAHORE: Former Punjab governor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the Raiwind march was not against democracy but is for accountability.
While addressing the media, Sarwar said that the citizens are angry due to the poor performance of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) government.
“Democracy is strengthened by accountability. The real threat to democracy is from monarchical attitude and stubbornness of the rulers,” he said.
He said the government did not want rule of law but monarchical style rule. The entire nation was united on national defence and standing by armed forces of Pakistan, he said and added that sustainable peace could not be achieved without solution of Kashmir issue.
The former governor said that the oppression in Kashmir needs to end as only then peace could be carved out. “We want the opposition alliance to end this pessimism. We want free and transparent system where no one is above the law,” Sarwar said.
